in progress? I kind of lost patience with this one. Still trying to get the hang of openCanvas, but I love how blend-y it is (:

Concept
Some concept art for a group film. Mainly more experimenting in photoshop though.
Loosely followed this tutorial
and I guess it came out okay. I really liked playing around with the textures, but I can't get his method of applying color. Tried to add some red and green here but it's really flat:

sketch-y update
This is what my life consists of right now:
slideshows. oh, so many slideshows. I agreed to teach Art Week for Kid's Camp and most of the kids are so young...I have to make lessons colorful and interesting somehow. This is the only way I know how to make slideshows, anyway. I really have no idea how to utilize Powerpoint...I just draw everything in paint and paste it. takes forever, though.
As part of the shapes lesson I talked about silhouettes. I found this online (though I'm pretty sure I've seen it somewhere else before) and I thought it was awesome:
gah. so iconic and effective!
I was very sad that the kids didn't recognize Pinky and the Brain. :C I grew up in a better time...
Anyway, if there's anything Art Week has taught me, it's that candy is a powerful motivator.
Here's some random doodles. I've been trying to get some good illustrations done, but there's no time this week to just sit down and paint. oh well
^potential character for film project
Clearly, girls are more fun to draw than boys. Also I realize that I always draw girls with unnaturally long necks. They're practically giraffes.
wedding dress pigs. Still need to be inked. Here's the ref dress
The picture came out too grainy so i tried to make it look old.
Btw, if you're interested in this kind of stuff, this site is like the holy grail of victorian dress references.
Sorry for the ugly camera pics. My scanner is well and truly broken (r.i.p.) but I'm getting paid soon so it's time to go scanner shopping! (:
Going to see WALL-E tomorrow! (finally)
pros: watching at the el capitan, which is apparently Wall-eed out
cons: going with a group of 50 kids.
hm.
