SHARK WEEEEEK

If you haven't already figured it out from my header, it is once again SHARK WEEK (also known as Megan's favorite holiday)!! As usual, Kristen has started up her wonderful Shark Week drawing challenge--one shark per day. This year we're also using it to try and get our blog-updates rolling again. So without further ado, here are sharks #1 and #2. 

Day one was the

 

I thought I'd read up and try to actually learn a little this time, so I checked out the wiki entry (you can learn, too!). My favorite fun fact about oceanic whitetips is that it is an "aggressive but slow-moving fish [that] dominates feeding frenzies..." :

(if it's a pie feeding frenzy then I'm the same way!)

But seriously, there are hardly any pictures of the bramble shark on google images. Poor bramble shark.

 http://drawthisdress.tumblr.com/ is one of my favorite tumblrs--I love seeing fashion interpreted by artists. Also, I've always found Vera's drawings so SO appealing, so I tried to mimic her style here.

ROBOTS AND MONSTERS...and girls

Sorry for the lack of updates, but big BIG news! The show that I worked on for the past year and a half (the best first job a gal could ever ask for!) will be premiering this Saturday, August 4 on Nickelodeon @ 11AM!

...red puppets? redheads? I was trying to think of something to tie this post together but it doesn't really work. Ah, well.


I finally got around to watching "Being Elmo", and it was so good! I'm weak when it comes to anything remotely sad or heartwarming, so I was totally tearing up at my desk. It's pretty inspiring, so if you haven't seen it yet you absolutely should.

And since it's the only other bit of new art I have, here's some Brave fanart.

I actually tried drawing Merida during my plane trip a few weeks ago, but I didn't really have any reference so it was more like a random redhead...with a bow. Also, it helped me realize that it's not that fun drawing on a red-eye flight. The lighting sucks and people are grumpy.

I'm sad that it took me a month to update this :( Some pretty time-consuming (and exciting!) projects are coming up, but I'll try to do better here!

Dreaming of weekend...

There's a lot of work to finish, it's mercilessly hot here on the top floor, and I'm on a self-imposed facebook ban...I'm pooped. Just needed a doodle break.

I don't really have one of those Cintiq arms at work...but they look really cool!

nutella time

Oof, I've been kind of slacking on the blog front, but I did this little doodle for the weekly drawing challenge started by Megan and Le (this past week's theme was "French Cephalopods"). There are some really fun prompts and it's open to anyone, so if you feel like participating then definitely give it a go! 

...and I had to make this. Nutella is sooo good. So good.

I'll try to be better about updating. More stories and such soon :)
