Weekend Dump!
Run and hide!
....it's another edition of Old, OLD art (:
besides mazes and board games, I also used to like drawing outrageous treehouses. totally impractical dream dwellings that had game rooms, tv rooms and an ample food storage. I actually named them, too!:
The Eye House (...natch)
I think this one was the Dog House
The Security House o_o
hahhaaa yea right.
I have so much old art stored away because I thought that when teachers said "don't throw anything away!" there was actually a good reason for it. Of course now I know that potential employers would definitely not want to see my 6 year old scribblings, but it's still fun to look back.
I see this as proof of the saying that art is 10% talent 90% practice (or something like that).
6 yrs. present
horses. seriously the most difficult thing to draw when you're a kid. their back legs had me stumped for the longest time.
and to make up for all of that:
and a bunnie!
Gone for the weekend!

oodles of doodles
...just kidding. just twodles.
errg. in progress. still trying to find a nice painting style in photoshop. I've just started getting into working with the brushes so it's still a learning experience, but I can't seem to get a nice smooth blend. I think I have something like makani's style in mind, but I'll probably experiment with some other methods.
and an ugly tiger doodled during a meeting. I'd just listened to the playoff game, so I think I had basketball on the mind.
verrrry frustrating. I think it's time to go back to traditional for a little bit.

Linkage!
http://artofdisney.canalblog.com/
A site with many disney/pixar animation images that I've never seen before. There are layouts and production work and maquettes and even some animation--stuff that represents a huge body of work from Bambi to Wall-E. The site is in French, but don't let it stop you! Totally worth a look. I do wish that they labeled the work with the artist, though, particularly with the concept drawings done for The Aristocats, which seems very different from the other films.
images (c) Disney/Pixar
Enchanted
Ratatouille
PS please definitely check out the "Enchanted" section if you're like me. I'm going nuts over the art nouveau inspiration. gorgeous!

Old....Really Old
when i was younger i used to love making "board games" and mazes. i like how toward the finish it seems like i started getting desperate and making every square a penalty.
i also used to doodle a lot of dream treehouses, and HUGE extended families of people and horses. oh, and invent pokemon and their evolutionary stages. but that's for another day.

doodles at Denny's
guh....I was trying to lifesketch at Denny's but it was getting awkward drawing friends, so I doodled random stuff instead....like FAT UNICORNS:
yea yeaaaaa I totally was thinking of clio chiang's fat unicorn when i drew the top one. same pose. but I couldn't think of anything else to draw, for some reason.
PS. the one in the bottom right is not flatulent, he just sat on daisies.
see, i pay attention in animal drawing... SCM!
...and then something really scary:
The head came first. Then my friend Ellen was all like, "Put her on a horse's body!"
and I thought it was a FINE idea
Whoooo Game 1 of the NBA finals is tomorrow, which also means some cafe (or bar) sketching...two birds with one stone!
Also, for some reason my scanner is always making these little lines on all my scans now. I'm totally baffled. Crap scanner? time to get a new one?

one of the things that drew me to Victorian pigs as an animation concept was the clothing. I LOVE Victorian clothing, so elegant and intricate! So besides trying to animate over the summer, I also want to do some more concept art/illustrations with the Pigs, just to explore more of the clothing and architecture. I'm excited (:
(like this dress! gorgeous. it was one of the first images that popped up when i googled "victorian dress")
