Monkeys, our friends

Nickelodeon has a gallery space with a new show every month. February was the "studio gallery". I had no idea what to submit, and somehow I just ended up with monkeys.

It was an awesome show. Everyone here is insanely talented!

-------------------------------------------------
...and here are some observational monkey sketches. I find that they behave in a more natural manner when they think no one is watching. Monkeys are funny things.

So Awesome! great painting. how do you pull off those global gradients and subtle shifts in color over the whole piece? Are you using a lot of layers?

sweet monkey poses! I never knew monkey's had a thing for bows and perms :)

Funny stuff!

I've had the same experience with monkeys posing. I had a gorilla who would lean forward and look at me when I was drawing, then return to his pose whenever I glanced up at him.

Have you noticed: Humans behave in a more natural manner when they think no one is looking, either. And we're always embarrassed when we're caught.
Great monkey drawings!
