Cats and Sweaters

I randomly decided to pick up a holiday sweater for my cat. I thought it would be adorable.

The Eye Camera

Do you ever have those times when you look up or around you and you see something like this?:

"Whooaaa..."
"I gotta get a picture of this"
"What the hell?!"
"This picture is a total turd! The colors are all off!"
dangit.

It always happens! I want to capture an amazing sight but pictures never do it justice. So I thought...
wouldn't it be nice...
...if our eyes were cameras...?
What we see with our eyes would be exactly what we get in the pictures....the vibrancy of the colors, the spectacular lighting, the subtle shadows...
When you see something that just needs to be captured --
all you would have to do to take a picture is blink and

And it doesn't mean you have to sacrifice other typical camera functions, such as:

Now, the one thing I haven't quite figured out was how to actually get physical copies of these photos. But I imagine it might go something like this:

Red

...red puppets? redheads? I was trying to think of something to tie this post together but it doesn't really work. Ah, well.
Photobucket

I finally got around to watching "Being Elmo", and it was so good! I'm weak when it comes to anything remotely sad or heartwarming, so I was totally tearing up at my desk. It's pretty inspiring, so if you haven't seen it yet you absolutely should.

And since it's the only other bit of new art I have, here's some Brave fanart.
I actually tried drawing Merida during my plane trip a few weeks ago, but I didn't really have any reference so it was more like a random redhead...with a bow. Also, it helped me realize that it's not that fun drawing on a red-eye flight. The lighting sucks and people are grumpy.

I'm sad that it took me a month to update this :( Some pretty time-consuming (and exciting!) projects are coming up, but I'll try to do better here!

nutella time

Oof, I've been kind of slacking on the blog front, but I did this little doodle for the weekly drawing challenge started by Megan and Le (this past week's theme was "French Cephalopods"). There are some really fun prompts and it's open to anyone, so if you feel like participating then definitely give it a go!

...and I had to make this. Nutella is sooo good. So good.

I'll try to be better about updating. More stories and such soon :)

The Face Bag...and some other stuff

This week, during a KFP coffee run, this caught my eye:

Except it was not drawn. I can't use picture of actual children off the internet (I'm not that mean), but yes...it was a handbag with a photo of children on it. And not a particularly cute photo, either. It was one of those 80's-ish posed photos with children that looked like they just came out of the corn.

I don't know if they were her children, but I hope so. If they weren't her children that would somehow, miraculously, make it even creepier.

After I pointed it out to Aaron, he suggested that they start putting pictures of children on other clothing items--"Like those Juicy sweatpants. Except instead of the word 'juicy', there's a picture of kids"
best-seller!

In other not-so-exciting news, I finally caved and got a tumblr:

I wasn't quite sure if I wanted one, but everyone kept saying how effective it is at sharing stuff/art...might as well! I always have random doodles that I feel aren't worth posting here, and I figure I can throw them up there. I still prefer blogger for stories/finished art, but I guess tumblr can be a true art-dump :)

must...draw...something...

Ever since I got a smart phone, I've become increasingly obsessed with playing around with apps...and the latest addiction is DrawSomething (sorry Words chums, you're going to feel a little neglected. I'm definitely still playing, though!)

Fortunately, almost all of my friends are also obsessed with this game. Phone Pictionary, how could you not love it?!

Of course, playing with everyone can get a little overwhelming. There's only so much time in a day, after all...

"Augh! I need to catch up on all my games"

"If you don't hurry you'll get nudged."

"What happens when you get nudged, anyway?"

HMMM...

Actually I think the game just sends a text. Too bad.

Sooo yes, if you like drawing and becoming a social hermit and being on bandwagons, you should play this game. It's pretty awesome and funny. Here are some of my favorite friend-drawings so far--the ones that I remembered to screencap, anyway:
