Waves!

I guess I'm trying to be more consistent in these art exercises...the second exercise in 3 days, that's practically a record for me. really trying to improve.

Some more painter practice....this one took way too long (look! I even made a note of how it took Way Too Long) It took me 2 -3 hours, though I was randomly distracted by Project Runway and the Food Network.

Decided to try waves/water today:

could definitely use some work, but I'm pretty satisfied for an exercise.

I want to do more texture practice, but I also have a sketchbook project in mind....we'll see.

G'night

Instead of catching up on homework like I should be doing, I spent the last 20 minutes working on this:

crappy.
but I'm trying to get more painter practice in. I'm really rusty when it comes to this stuff, so I figure random doodling will start me down the right path.

Cannot. Focus.
might as well go to bed...?

happy new years!

Uggghh. What a way to ring in the new year...sitting on the couch hacking and destroying tissues. But in any case, Happy New Years!

Not much to show so far, but I hope to make the most of the rest of winter break.

The final for my project. Most unfortunately, I made a stupid mistake and painted it at 72 dpi. and now it shall forever be blurry and pixelated.

Here are some car sketches. I don't have much experience drawing automobiles (can't you tell?), but I need to know how to draw them for a potential project. I have a long way to go, though...these trucks are still way too chunky/cartoony. Back to practicing!

She is fond of eating her young!

nothing much to show for fall break ): I have been very unproductive, and now it's crunchtime for final projects. Aaaggh.

Here are some progress shots of my final illustration project.
The assignment was to illustrate a Shel Silverstein (?) poem.

mine was the White-Breasted Murd...

coelaflowers!

lately i've had a thing for flowers and fish.

well...flowers coming out of fish.

and fish = coelacanth

i tried it with salmon, but it just wasn't the same.

Painter Practice

I haven't touched a tablet for a few years, and haven't worked in painter....well, ever. But I'm getting a crash course in my illustration class and I have to say, I LOVE painter. (:

After al the frustrations with photoshop and illustrator, this was like a light dawning. Painter, you are my new best friend.

Still a little rough, though, I have to get used to it again. so just random practice doodles--

i wanted to practice folds, but it definitely didn't come out right.

my practice apple. didn't do the shadow or bg.
